Advice and answers from the EPROLO team
Dear Partner:
Due to the EU’s VAT rules which will be effective on 1 July 2021, sellers are required to provide valid VAT or IOSS numbers so that packages can be shipped to Europe successfully. Sellers who sell products to EU countries need to register the VAT of related countries or the IOSS.
According to new VAT e-commerce rules, all products imported into the EU from a third country will be subject to VAT. The IOSS facilitates the collection, declaration and payment of VAT for sellers that sell products to EU buyers. If the seller is not registered in the IOSS, the buyer has to pay the VAT and usually a customs clearance fee.
All packages arriving in Europe after July 1 require a VAT identification number or IOSS number. Packages that shipped around June 20 are likely to arrive in Europe on July 1. And those packages also need VAT identification numbers or IOSS numbers.
Packages arriving in Europe after July 1 without VAT identification numbers or IOSS numbers, buyers are responsible for customs clearance. It’s possible to affect the delivery time.
